Overview - Pune
 

Pune is located about 160 km south-east of Mumbai and is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra and the eighth largest city in India. Known as “Oxford of the East” Pune is the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Pune has emerged as one of India’s top IT destinations in the last few years.

Pune offers excellent facilities in terms of large spaces, good infrastructure and manpower. Being home a large number of institutes and universities, Pune offers a vast pool of skilled and qualified local English speaking talent. Pune also offers good working environment, lower commuting times and low operation costs.

Apart from the local manpower pool, Pune also has a large base of people from other parts of the country as they enjoy living in Pune with all its facilities, good climate and low cost of living.  As a result, Pune has one of the lowest attrition rates in the ITeS segment. Pune has the highest per capita Income in India, 50% higher than the average. More than half of the population belongs to the middle and upper middle income group. 30% of the total workforce is employed in service sector including IT.

The above factors coupled with quality real estate developments have resulted in a number of IT/ITeS companies moving into Pune. Pune is growing fast and the number of companies in the IT/ITeS sector moving into Pune is increasing daily. Infosys, IBM, Convergys, Wipro, EDS, Honeywell etc. are just a few of the many players active in the Pune market today.
